brief coup in venuzuela

a story about how chavez was briefly outed from the presidency, along with his entire administration. an example in corrupted use of the media for political ends. something about the context makes it a very raw example, and very clear in terms of misuse of footage, selective use of camera angles, the manipulation of crowds and of supporters. some interesting things about the international reactions. much of it is like a long, and real, version of a tintin comic. a very latin-american revolution. the chavez regime comes across very well in this particular film, and extremely widespread popular support is implied throughout.

David Korten – the great turning

presentation about ‘the great turning’, the time where humanity is aware of the need to change the way we are configured, the way we live, the way that we work together and cooperate globally. highly inspirational in as much as it sharply defines many of the major issues of today’s situation in an efficient way. also significant as being a positive message, in terms of how many people already support these necessary and desirable changes, albeit without explicitly declaring the required action. it is also positive in terms of simple encouragement for anyone thinking about these issues and wondering what can be done about them.

wonderfully ends with ‘we are the ones we have been waiting for’.
